Does your dog pull on the lead?
Does your dog jump up all over strangers?
Does your dog ignore you when you are out on a walk?
Does your dog/you not want to attend group-training classes?
If you can say yes to any of the above then The Pet People dog training service is specially designed for you!
There are a good number of positive training classes in this area that cater for the dog and owner who are happy to be trained in a group. For a lot of dogs however this is not the best place for them to learn. Stress, boredom, excitement at having other dogs around and fear can all distract your dog from what is being taught. Possible concerns you as the owner may have about being in a class situation such as worrying whether your dog will perform or show you up, or other distractions such as other dogs barking can also get in the way of you and your dog enjoying training and getting the best out of the class.
The Pet People dog training classes are held on a one to one basis either in your own home/garden or local open area. It is also possible to teach small groups if you have friends who wish to teach their dogs. All training is tailored to suit your needs and the needs of your dog, although there are some basics that all dogs need to learn before they can move onto more complicated exercises. This means that you do not need to spend time doing exercises that either your dog has already mastered or that you feel are unnecessary.
All training is positive reward based training to ensure that both you and your dog enjoy the experience. This also helps to form a strong bond between you and your dog.
Examples of training exercises:
· Basics - recall, sit/down, wait/stay, walking on a lead
· Socialisation - greeting people, handling, play
· Advanced - off lead heel, down at a distance, retrieve, tricks
· Safety - leave, stop, chase recall
